Today’s photo comes to us from Region 4. This section of old US 99 was constructed in 1942 and bypassed in 1960. In 2014, it was removed. Where was this photo taken? Use the comment section to post your answer. Person who gets the correct answer first wins a free one-year membership!
The photo shows Taylor Court, a section of former US 99 expressway at the north end of Turlock. It was bypassed in 1973 and since turned into a parking area for RV’s and trailers.
Today’s photo was taken in 2012 and is one half of a section of former expressway. It was bypassed in the 1970’s and is located in Region 3. Where is it?
The photo shows a section of former US 99 known as Floyd Lane between Bowman Road and Sunset Hills Drive in Tehama County just south of Cottonwood. The concrete dates to the late 1910’s and was bypassed about 1940.
Every couple weeks we will be posting a series called “Where on 99?” where we post a photo from somewhere along US 99 in California. Sometimes there will be hints but nothing that will give it away. Photos will range from new to old and will cover all of old 99.
Our first image was taken in 2007 and shows a section of highway that still looks the same today. Bonus points for what year the concrete was poured.
Hint: It is in Region 1.
