The Sacramento Valley is host to many of California’s most historic locations such as the State Capital and the western terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad. Large rivers, the American, Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Feather, all make their way through the valley, joining and forming the largest delta region in the West Coast. US 99 also split in Sacramento, forming US 99W which headed to first southwest along US 40 to Davis, then up to Woodland and the western side of the Valley. US 99E headed northeast along US 40 to Roseville, then along the eastern side of the Valley.
